In an archaeological point of view, the history of mankind began from the GUSEOKGISIDAE. Korean history can also be traced from the period of the GUSEOKGISIDAE. However, it has not been long since the confirmation of the existence of the GUSEOKGISIDAE itself. Paleolithic men lived in communities, collected and hunted together during this period.

In the Neolithic Age, remarkable tools and pots were created from stones, so called ground stone tools, and pots. It was a long time before whetstones, to sharpen the stone tools, were discovered/invented. The pots were baked bowl shapes of clay. They were used for cooking or storing things. The typical pot of that era had comb striated patterns on its surface. What was significant of that era was the beginning of an agricultural life. It represented the shift from a collection economy to a production economy.

The agricultural life began with some basic farming and during the time of the Brass Age, increased rapidly in productive capacity. With this increase, naturally, it brought about wide-range changes. Brass armored tribes warred and conquered their neighboring tribes, and this led to the dissolution of the prehistoric community. In its stead, private property ownership and a hierarchy system followed. The ruling hierarchy were the dolmens (also graves of the upper class) themselves who wore brass armors, carried mandolin shaped daggers, mirrors and bells.

Shortly after, the formation of nations, based on a collection of small city units, occurred. Formerly formed as tribes, citadels, towns, villages and chiefdoms, they were united to form what was called the citadel nation.
