Korea is ranked third on a global passport power list based on the number of countries a passport holder can travel visa-free.

Henley & Partners, an investment migration consulting company based in London, on July 23 released its annual Henley Passport Index placing the Korean passport third for its ability to enter 191 countries without a visa.

Also tied for third with Korea were Austria, Finland, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Sweden.

Korea in July 2022 tied for second on the list with 192 countries and was third in July last year with 189.

Leading the rankings this year was Singapore with 195 countries, its second straight year at the top.

In a five-way tie for second were France, Germany, Italy, Japan and Spain with 192 countries.

This year's list ranked 227 countries.

The company said the average number of countries a passport holder can visit this year is 111, nearly double 58 in 2006.
