The large-scale shopping extravaganza Korea Sale Festa will run from Nov. 9-30, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said on Sept. 26.
Marking its ninth edition this year, the event offers big discounts on products in sectors like distribution, household appliances, cars, fashion, cosmetics and food. A combined 2,549 businesses participated in last year's event, and this year's aims to attract over 2,600.
Service companies in culture, tourism and education such as amusement parks, movie theaters, learning materials and delivery will participate by offering discount products.
The ministry will hold a virtual meeting with the country's 17 cities and provinces to review each local government's participation plan. They will also discuss participation in the festival by small business owners and small and medium enterprises, creation of synergy by linking shopping festivals and regional tourism, discounts on online malls of Korea Sale Festa by region and promotions targeting foreign travelers.
The ministry on Oct. 2 will hold a meeting with 12 relevant ministries to review how to successfully host the event.
