Seoul Design 2024, the nation's largest festival of its kind, will kick off on Oct. 17.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government on Oct. 13 announced its hosting of the event from Oct. 17-27 at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP). Held under the theme "Imagine Tomorrow," the event covers the effects of artificial intelligence (AI) on design.

To promote design trends in the capital, this year's edition will put the focus on designers and companies by showcasing the latest design products and related discussions.

Fourteen companies including SM Entertainment, LG U Plus and ReCode will hold exhibitions. Designers from Detroit, the first U.S. city designated a UNESCO City of Design, will also display their works made through collaborations with regional members.

The DDP Design Launching Fair, which supports product development, will feature the latest brands and products made through cooperation among designers from companies and colleges both at home and abroad.

Design experts like Kim Nan-do, a trend analyst and professor at Seoul National University, media artist Kang Yiyun and SM Entertainment Chief A&R (Artists and Repertoire) Officer Lee Sung-soo will discuss design case studies using AI and related trends.

More information on Seoul Design 2024 is available on the event's official website (www.seoul-design.or.kr).

Seoul Design Foundation Chairman Cha Gang-hee said, "Using diverse programs, this opportunity will punctuate Seoul's status as a global design hub and show how AI technology and design will alter future industries."
