Samsung leads Asia in brand value, 4 Korean firms in top 100

Samsung Electronics has the highest brand value of any company from a leading Asian economy, according to a Japanese research company.


Nikkei Research under the Japanese media conglomerate Nikkei on Oct. 17 released its annual Global Brand Survey of the top 100 brands, putting Samsung at the top of the list for Asia.


The study was conducted in China, Taiwan, Thailand, India, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines. Samsung Electronics ranked No. 1 in Vietnam and No. 2 in India.


In brand value in Asia, Adidas of Germany was second, Apple of the U.S. third, Sony of Japan fourth and Nike of the U.S. fifth.


The three other Korean companies ranked among the top 100 were LG Electronics (sixth), Hyundai Motor Group (26th) and Lotte (65th).
