The pro esports team T1 has won its second consecutive League of Legends (LoL) World Championship, beating Bilibili Gaming (BLG) of China in the final.
Led by captain Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok, TI defeated BLG by a set score of 3-2 at London's O2 Arena.
T1 overcame a rough start to win the second set after losing the first, but BLG's swift offense gave the Chinese team the third. T1 captain Lee brought his team back from the brink through consecutive "super plays," leading his team to victory in the fourth and fifth sets.
T1 thus made history as the first team to win five LoL world titles. Lee's superb form earned him the honor of Most Valuable Player.
Back in 2022, esports made its Asian Games debut at the tournament in Hangzhou, China.
