An event in Seoul will shine the spotlight on outstanding traditional alcoholic drinks from all over the country.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corp. (aT) on Nov. 14 announced their joint hosting of this year's Korean Sool (Alcohol) Grand Festival from Nov. 15-17 at Exhibition Hall 1 of aT Center in Seoul's Seocho-gu District.

Marking its 14th year, the event is the country's largest for promoting traditional alcoholic beverages, attracting over 10,000 visitors every year. Its purpose is to offer consumers diverse information on domestic booze as well as raise awareness and stimulate consumption of it.

The interactive programs include a workshop for making makgeolli (milky rice wine), product evaluation awards ceremony, auction show of limited editions of traditional liquor and seminar on industry trends.

As part of this event, some 100 types of regional traditional alcoholic beverages will be sold from Nov. 15-29 at 10 branches of the supermarket chain Hanaro Mart nationwide.

Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Song Mi-ryung said, “The Korean Sool Grand Festival gathers and introduces excellent traditional alcoholic drinks from all over the country, and I hope it offers the public an opportunity to enjoy a variety of our drinks."
