Ten more regions of the country will accept a digital tourist resident card, offering travel benefits in sectors like accommodations, food and beverage, sightseeing, interactive experiences and shopping.
In cooperation with the Korea Tourism Organization, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on March 26 said 44 regions from late next month will offer benefits for cardholders, up from 34 last year. The intent is to stimulate tourism in areas with declining populations.
The 10 additions are Cheorwon-gun County, Gangwon-Province; Boryeong, Chungcheongnam-do Province; Gimje, Jeollabuk-do Province; the counties of Gurye-gun, Gokseong-gun and Hampyeong-gun, Jeollanam-do Province; counties of Cheongdo-gun and Euiseong-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province; Miryang, Gyeongsangnam-do Province; and Dong-gu District of Busan.
The number of tourist facilities and businesses where card users can get benefits will be approximately 1,000, up from 830.
The deals include 50% off admission to Cheorwon Hantangang Columnar Joint Path in the Hantangang River valley in Gangwon-do; 20% discount on sky bike riding at Daecheon Beach in Boryeong; and 30% off tickets to the theme park Provence Photo Land in Cheongdo-gun.
