The government will share the nation's globally recognized anti-corruption policy with government officials from five countries.

The Anti-Corruption Training Institute of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission (ACRC) on April 15 announced the start of its 10-day multi-country course on boosting anti-corruption capacity.

Fourteen public servants from Laos, Malaysia, Thailand, Ethiopia and Egypt will take part in this year's program.

The course will cover key features of Korea's anti-corruption systems such as for assessing a public organization's integrity, protecting reporters who cover corruption and the public interest, and explaining key content of domestic laws and regulations such as the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act and Act on the Prevention of Conflict of Interest Related to Duties of Public Servants.

Participants can share recent reports of public interest and corruption cases in their countries and exchange information and status of their respective anti-corruption systems. On-site programs will also be provided like a tour of an interactive exhibition center for e-government and Beopjusa Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

As part of official development assistance, the ACRC since 2013 has run annual policy training to help public officers around the world boost their anti-corruption capacity. A combined 354 officials from 70 countries have participated in the program.

"Our commission will expand cooperation in anti-corruption projects to help promote democracy in developing countries," ACRC Chairperson Ryu Chul Whan said. "We will share with the world Korea's superior transparency policies and systems to lead international cooperation in anti-corruption education."
