From next month through December, 580,000 tourists can receive discounts on transportation, accommodations and travel packages under the promotion "Fall in Korea."
This was announced on Sept. 25 at a national tourism strategy meeting chaired by Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Yu In Chon at Government Complex-Seoul. Jointly prepared by related ministries and the nation's 17 municipal and provincial governments, the campaign seeks to stimulate tourism in the country in the fourth quarter.
In transportation, tourists can get 50% off on five rail tour routes and a discount of KRW 10,000 won on the Naeilo Pass for trains.
In accommodations, 500,000 discount vouchers will be provided for places to stay in non-metropolitan cities and reduced rates at lodging facilities certified for quality.
Discounts of 20% will be offered on around 100 "Fall in Korea" products.
More information on the campaign is available on the official website of the Korea Tourism Organization (https://korean.visitkorea.or.kr) in Korean.
Also part of the initiative is a mobile stamp tour event. From Oct. 1 to Dec. 10, those who collect such stamps at festivals in two or more locations will get gifts.
Each region will also expand events and festivals in its area to create comprehensive branding and develop tours that connect regions. For the first time, local governments will hold integrated events like Korea Stage Festa, which features performances of theater, dance and classical music nationwide, Festival Shiwol in Busan, G-Festa in Gwangju and Fantasia Daegu Festa in Daegu.
